Have you ever taken a moment to consider the great mercies of God? Isn’t it so tremendous to know that our God is a God of infinite mercy? The word “mercy,” mentioned over 270 times in the Old Testament, is the Hebrew word Hesed. This word is pregnant with depth and meaning to the extent that there is no equivalent synonym in the English language. Hesed is a mercy that is constant in its affection, active in compassion, vigilant in care, always offering forgiveness, gentle in its reach, and enduring through every situation of life to all generations. As Psalm 136 boldly proclaims in all twenty-six verses.
The mercy of God has been a constant theme since creation, echoing down through the ages and continuing to resound to every human being. God calls us by His mercy into the mercy He secured for us by the death of Jesus Christ on our behalf. We have been saved by His mercy, sustained by His mercy, given His mercy, and are enabled to enter His presence through His mercy, and He calls us to be merciful even as He is merciful.
Mindful of the magnitude and constancy of God’s mercies, when we were considering what our joint ministry should magnify, represent, and echo, we were struck by the theme “Echoes of Mercy.” So, after the suggestion of our son Braden and with his help, we chose the URL “EchoesofMercy.”
We want to spend these golden years of our lives simply sharing, teaching, heralding, and ministering the great and varied mercies of God wherever the Spirit opens the doors for us to share. We are excited about all the possibilities that the future will afford, echoing God’s mercy that He has shown in His Word and our lives.
We would love if you would prayerfully consider partnering with us in echoing the mercies of God by praying for us as well as, perhaps, financially contributing to our ministry so that we can continue to echo God’s mercies by way of speaking, writing, hosting radio programs, and podcasts (Women Worth Knowing, Pastors’ Perspective, Back to Basics, Gracious Words), and travel.
Thank you, and we look forward to partnering together in this new season for the gospel.
Grace, Mercy, and Peace,
Brian & Cheryl
